What is my Portrait Session Process?

Book your session date
After you contact me via phone or the contact form from my website, we schedule a phone call to go over any questions regarding the type of session you are envisioning. If you decide you want to book a session, we pencil in a date in the calendar. I will send you a proposal via email with details and payment options. Your session deposit officially books your session.

Most portrait sessions take place during sunrise or a few hours before sunset. I love the flattering lighting conditions at these times. 9 out of 10 times I use flash gear to add a natural fill light to the setting/rising sun.

The majority of clients book sessions on weekends so those dates need to be reserved way in advance.

Pre-Shoot Consultation

This is a very important part of the process where we pin down session and product expectations. We can go over wardrobe choices to make sure there is a cohesive style for the whole family. I will also provide you with wardrobe suggestions and a guideline. If you have children, this could be an excellent opportunity to introduce myself so that they are a tad familiar with me before the session. The whole point of this is to make images that are uniquely you and your family.

Portrait Session

Depending on the location and your familiarity with it, we take a few minutes to explore the options.  Locations may offer many backgrounds, but it is really up to you and your family to decide how much ground we can cover. For instance, if your children love the sand and don’t mind the Florida heat, then we can schedule a session at a beach connected to boardwalks or a park.  If you have little children, it may be better to stay in one small area and get all the shots that involve posing first. Later in the session, we can capture the candid images.

 Viewing your Photos and Placing your Print Order

You will receive a link to review your photos so that you can pick your favorites and/or choose products. I use a high-quality professional photo lab and upon request, I will show you samples of the products I offer. I personally inspect every product that my clients order to ensure there are no issues. Depending on the final order, I may personally deliver your wall art or print order.
